Steeple Chaser's music is a perfect blend of hard rock
energy combined with pop's solid melodies and broad
transparent emotion. With evocative vocals, a pounding
rhythm section and instantly memorable grooves, the
band's sure melodies and crackling guitars echo songs
of passion and introspective style.
Formed in 1999, Steeple Chaser entered the Winnipeg
club scene with a desire to both perform and wow
audiences with their unique sound and dazzling live
shows. The group quickly moved up the club-circuit
ladder and ultimately won Power 97 FM's "Next Big
Thing" competition. Their prize was to record at renowned
Winnipeg recording facility, Studio 11.
The result was a successful four song EP entitled "Pilot"
recorded with Grammy nominee and multiple Juno Award
winning producer Brandon Friesen. With a new perspective
and EP to pass on to the public, Steeple Chaser spent
the next year performing, cross-Canada touring and
perfecting a live show that speaks volumes beyond their
independent contemporaries, constantly staying in the
public eye and slowly but surely becoming a favorite
among both fans and critics.
During the summer of 2003, Steeple Chaser was honored
again by Power 97 FM. Including them on there very
first "Class of 2003" CD featuring 5 of Manitoba's most
promising acts. After maintaining 8 weeks atop the Power
Play Off in March and April, their single "Radio Who"
was added to the play list in mid June. It carried on with
mid-high rotation throughout the summer and is still being
played today.
